ATLANTA-- Georgia State's senior guard
Toneari Lane has earned a spot on the Preseason All-Sun Belt second team, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
During the 2023-24 season, Lane emerged as Georgia State's second-leading scorer, averaging 13.3 points per game. The Atlanta native distinguished himself as a formidable shooter, leading the Sun Belt in both 3-point shooting percentage (.337) and 3-pointers made per game (2.77). His remarkable shooting ability culminated in 86 3-pointers for the season, placing him fifth on the Georgia State single-season list.
Lane scored in double figures in 22 of 31 games, with standout performances in four games where he exceeded the 20-point mark. Notably, he hit five or more 3-pointers in five games, including a high of six on two occasions. Additionally, Lane also stood out at the free-throw line, converting 82 percent of his attempts.
Highlighting his career achievements, the veteran guard recorded a personal-best 23 points in back-to-back victories against Little Rock. In the first game, he nailed six 3-pointers, and in the second, went 8-for-9. He also demonstrated versatility on the court, achieving a career-high seven rebounds during a game against Little Rock. He replicated this 23-point feat in a critical home win against Old Dominion and contributed significantly with 20 points during a crucial victory at South Alabama.
Lane's late-season surge was equally impressive, finishing the season with six consecutive games scoring 12 or more points, including a strong performance with 19 points against Marshall in the Sun Belt tournament.
