Panthers Post 2-2 Tie on the Road at Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. — Georgia State women's soccer traveled on the road and tied Western Carolina, 2-2, on Thursday night at Catamount Soccer Complex. A pair of goals from Elena Diaz earned GSU the 2-2 draw as the Panthers remain unbeaten and move to 3-0-2 overall for the 2023 season.

The match remained scoreless through 67 minutes of play before Western Carolina broke the scoring drought with a goal in the 68' minute. GSU leveled the game with a goal from Diaz — her second on the season — in the 81' minute, assisted by Aaliyah Faddoul.

Western Carolina regained the lead with a goal in the 86' minute to make it a 2-1 count. The Panthers once again found the equalizer and evened the count at 2-2 late with an 87' minute goal from Diaz, assisted by Maddie Johnston

GSU charted 11 shots with three shots on goal for the match. Diaz led the team in scoring with the pair of goals, and finished the outing tallying a total of seven shots.
