Faddoul Scores Fourth Goal in 3-0 Victory Over Murray State

ATLANTA— Georgia State women's soccer wrapped its first week of regular-season competition with a 3-0 victory over Murray State in Atlanta on Sunday. Aaliyah Faddoul connected on the team's third goal in the 88th minute to put an exclamation point on the Panthers' win, and add a team-best fourth goal to the freshman's resume thus far in 2023.

GSU struck first early in the 8th minute as fifth-year senior Jimena Cabrero's shot from inside the box deflected off a defender and found the back of the net. Alondra Nieves tallied a second unassisted goal for the team on Sunday to add to the Panthers' lead.

The late goal by Faddoul came off an assist from freshman Therese Guldager and earned the team its 3-0 lead. With Faddoul previously notching a hat-trick in the Panthers' record-setting 12-0 win over Clayton State on Thursday, the goal in Sunday's win marks the fourth goal of the week and on the season for the Ontario, Canada native.

Goalkeepers Jaddah Foos and Ariana Anderson each recorded a clean sheet, helping lead the Panthers' defense to a shutout and limiting the Racers to just three shots on the day.

GSU improves to 2-0-0 on the season following the win.

The Panthers return to the pitch next week on Thursday, Aug. 24 hosting in-state foe Mercer at the GSU Soccer Complex. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. ET with ESPN+ set to broadcast.
