Panthers Fall on Walk-Off Homer in the 10th

Harrisonburg, Va. -- Georgia State got an outstanding start from Ryan Watson but fell 4-3 on a walk-off grand slam at James Madison Friday at Veterans Memorial Park.

Watson, the fifth-year senior from Sugar Hill, Ga., and North Gwinnett High School, had one of the best starts of his career. After shutting out the Dukes for eight innings, Watson started the ninth inning. After a single and a catcher's interference call put runners at first and second, Watson recorded his career-high ninth strikeout.

After another single loaded the bases, Watson gave way to the bullpen, and JMU catcher Jason Schiavone hit a walk-off grand slam.

Watson allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out nine.

Georgia State managed just six hits in the game. JoJo Jackson's RBI-single in the second inning gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the second inning, and that remained the score until the ninth, when GSU scored two insurance runs on RBIs by Luke Boyton and Colin Hynek.

The series concludes with a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
