BOONE, NC – The Panthers (17-30, 6-12 Sun Belt) defeated the Mountaineers (22-23, 3-13 Sun Belt), 7-5, in the series finale after a late rally in the eighth. This is the fourth time this season the Panthers have won in extra innings.
 
Emily Brown and Ashton Schroyer continued to excel this weekend, Brown went 3 for 4 and Schroyer 3 for 5. The senior and freshman outfielders both had a web gem in the outfield for crucial outs in late innings.
 
Down 0-2 in the third and bases loaded Chloe Nadler came up and was hit by the pitch that walked in Middlebrooks. Soon after, Bailee Richardson hit the ball up the middle for a rbi single, Caroline Brownlee would also earn a rbi single to put the Panthers in the lead.
 
App State homered in the fourth to tie up the game that would eventually result in extra innings.
 
Panthers rallied in the eight rattling off two rbi singles by Carolyn Deady and Brown. Emma Yanes blasted a two rbi double to left center to help extend the lead.
 
The Mountaineers tried to come back with two solo home runs but came up short.
 
Elle Doolittle earned the victory after pitching 7.2 innings before sophomore Kate Kastelic came in to relieve in the bottom of the eighth. Doolittle improved to 8-9 after taking both losses for Friday's doubleheader.
