Datei is Center Parc Student-Athlete of the Week

Georgia State men's tennis standout Gabriele Datei is the Center Parc Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week after clinching a back-to-back Sun Belt Conference victories for the Panthers.

On Saturday, Datei lifted Georgia State to a 4-3 win over Louisiana on Saturday. Tied at 3-3, the match came down to Datei at No. 1 singles, and the freshman from Bergamo, Italy, won in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, to give the Panthers the 4-3 win. 

One day later, Datei earned another three-set victory at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, to give Georgia State the clinching point in the Panthers' 4-2 win over Southern Miss.

Datei and the Panthers won four of their final five regular-season matches entering this week's Sun Belt Conference Championship, which will be played at the Peachtree City Tennis Complex just outside Atlanta. Georgia State opens play with a rematch against Louisiana Thursday at 10 a.m.
