ATLANTA – Georgia State (15-26, 4-9 Sun Belt) dropped game one of the weekend series against Georgia Southern (15 -21, 5-8), 4-0.
The Eagles went up 4-0 on a single and two home runs before the game entered a rain delay in the top of the fifth.
Maia Mumpfield rang off the Panthers first hit in the bottom of the third but would be left on base.
The Panthers tried to come back in seventh rattling off two hits by
Bailee Richardson and
Ashton Schroyer but fell short giving the Eagles pitcher, Bailey Holland a shutout win.
Elle Doolittle (7-7) took the loss in the circle for the Panthers, giving up five hits and four runs in 2.1 innings of work.
The series will continue tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the Panthers Autism Acceptance game.
