ATLANTA— Georgia State head men's tennis coach James Wilson has announced the signing of Naufal Kamaruzzaman for the team's upcoming recruiting class. Kamaruzzaman joins the Panthers' roster as a graduate transfer from Middle Georgia following a highly successful tenure with the Knights tennis program.

Kamaruzzaman was named the SSAC's Barnes & Noble College Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022, and won a SSAC Conference Championship while competing for the NAIA program in 2021.

Kamaruzzaman represented his home country of Malaysia at the ITF Davis Cup three times in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), The Davis Cup is regarded as the premier international team event for tennis and is contested annually between teams from over 140 competing countries.

A native of Shah Alam, Malaysia, Kamaruzzaman was the No. 1 ranked player in Malaysia while playing U10-U16. The incoming grad transfer touts a career-high ITF Juniors ranking of No. 603, and was ranked as high as No. 1595 for ITF Singles.
