Bowl MVP Grainger is the Center Parc Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- Senior quarterback Darren Grainger is the Center Parc Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week after taking home Most Valuable Players honors in leading Georgia State to its third straight bowl victory with a dominating 45-22 victory over Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho.

In his final game for the Panthers, Grainger accounted for 368 yards of offense and five touchdowns, which equalled his own GSU record. He completed 19 of 22 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns and rushedfor 111 yards and two scores. His completion percentage of 86.4 percent is a new school record.
 
The Conway, S.C., native earned MVP honors in both of his bowl game starts, the 2021 TaxAct Camellia Bowl and 2023 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. In the two games combined, he accumulated 693 yards of total offense and nine total touchdowns.

Grainger's performance in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl capped his standout, three-year career. After 36 career starts, the GSU record for a quarterback, he finishes as Georgia State's career leader in total offense (8,909), touchdown passes (57) and touchdown responsibility (76) while ranking second in passing yards (6,779) and completions (554), fourth in rushing yards (2,130) and tied for third in rushing touchdowns (19). 

Grainger led the Panthers to their sixth bowl berth and fourth bowl victory in the last nine years.
