ATLANTA, GA -- Jay'Den Turner recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Lucas Taylor and Brenden Tucker added 17 points each to lead Georgia State to a 92-66 victory over Morehouse in an exhibition Sunday at the GSU Convocation Center.
The Panthers knocked down 11 3-pointers on 31 attempts, including four treys by Taylor, the Wake Forest transfer.
The Georgia State defense forced 23 Morehouse turnovers that turned into 34 points on the other end of the floor.
How It Happened
Leading 23-20, Georgia State went on a 6-0 run with 6:28 left in the first half to increase its lead to 29-20. The Panthers then added six points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 41-26 advantage. Georgia State capitalized on 14 Morehouse turnovers in the period, turning them into 20 points on the other end of the floor.
Following intermission, Georgia State kept widening that lead, expanding it to 64-44 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Toneari Lane's three, to grow the lead to 72-44 with 7:22 to go in the contest. The Maroon Tigers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Panthers still cruised the rest of the way for the 92-66 win. Georgia State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting seven shots from deep to score 21 of its 51 points.
