Panthers Shut Out Jacksonville State, 3-0, at Home

ATLANTA— The Georgia State women's soccer team closed the weekend with a clean sheet, 3-0, against Jacksonville State on Sunday as junior forward Maddie Johnston charted a third goal on the season for the Panthers.

The Panthers took the lead, 1-0, with junior midfielder Elena Diaz connecting on a goal in the 15th minute off an assist from Johnston. Diaz has now posted two goals this season for GSU.

GSU quickly gained a 2-0 lead following Johnston's goal in the 17th minute. In the 27th minute, sophomore forward Brooklynn Fugel capped the Panthers' night scoring with a goal off an assist from sophomore Olivia Shaw.

A Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference selection, Fugel's goal was the first of the season for the sophomore. Fugel charted a team high four shots for the Panthers on Sunday.

GSU compiled a total of 16 shots as a team, and goalkeeper Jaddah Foos recorded three saves for the Panthers. Foos is now two saves from charting 100 total career saves for the junior's tenure with GSU. 

The Panthers will resume action next week with a road trip to Clinton, S.C. GSU will face Presbyterian on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. ET with more information on live stats and broadcasting to follow.
