Own Goal Equalizes Late in Panthers' 2-2 Draw Facing Louisiana

ATLANTA— In the team's first home conference outing, the Georgia State women's soccer team tied Sun Belt foe Louisiana on Wednesday with goals from freshman midfielder Emily Glenn and an own goal by the Rajin' Cajuns to even the match in the 84th minute. The late equalizer helped the Panthers stave off a loss facing the SBC foe in Atlanta as the team moves to 4-1-5 for the season with the tie.

Following a scoreless first half that saw GSU chart seven shots to Louisiana's three, Glenn registered the career-first goal to put the Panthers ahead, 1-0, in the 55th minute. The Atlanta native has notched four shots for the season and has seen time in eight of the Panthers' 10 matches.

GSU fell behind in the match as Louisiana managed back-to-back goals in the 60th and 69th minutes to go ahead, 2-1. Despite the pair of goals, the Panthers' defense limited the Rajin' Cajuns to just three shots on goal on Wednesday.

The Panthers charted six shots in the second half to tally a total of 13 for the match. Junior midfielder and team captain Ana Diaz accounted for a team-high three shots with one on goal.

Eight different Panthers registered attempted shots as well as shots on goal facing the SBC foe. Even with the team's balanced offensive attack, the Panthers were unable to find the back of the net again for the majority of the second half.

With just over six minutes to play in the match, GSU found the equalizer with the own goal by Louisiana. The Panthers have now posted back-to-back draws against SBC opponents and remain unbeaten in conference play following the tie.

The Panthers are back on the road for a conference battle facing Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 25. The match at noon ET will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available to fans.
