Guest Scores Back to Back Goals in Win Over Winthrop, 5-1

ATLANTA- Panthers dominate Winthrop in 5-1 win with the help of Senior Midfielder Justin Guest who scored back to back goals in the 74'.

The Panthers started out strong in the first half as Ross Finnie took a shot on goal in just the 4' minute. There would be three more Panther shots on goal before Justin McLean would be successful and get the Panthers on the board in the 17'. His first collegiate career goal, McLean was assisted by Tristan Jumeau, who stole the ball from a Winthrop lazy pass.

In the 32' minute the Panthers would score another goal off a corner kick. Finnie launched it from the corner into the box when Max Wilkins headed in the goal to put the Panthers up, 2-0.

Coming back into the second half the Panthers kept things rolling with a shot on goal 17 seconds in. In the 69' Mario Arrocha took the corner kick, rocketing the ball directly to Clay Dawes for another header goal.

The Panthers would score two more goals, both in the 74'. Both goals came from Justin Guest back to back. The first goal was assisted by Tom Williams and the second assisted by Carlos Luna

Georgia State held possession of the ball for only 54 percent of the game but still managed to out shoot and out score the eagles.

The Panthers defense held the Eagles to just seven shots, as the Panthers out shot them, 21-7. Both Gunther Rankenburg and Josue Hangi had two saves on the night.

Winthrop's lone goal came after Dawes was awarded a red card, giving the eagles the opportunity in the 89'.

The Panthers will be back in action at home Tuesday, September 6 as they take on the Davidson Wildcats. The match will be aired on ESPN+ starting at 6:00 p.m..
