Panthers Drop Series Opener at Troy

TROY, ALA -- Georgia State dropped its series opener at Troy, 10-1 Friday evening at Riddle-Pace Field.

Georgia State (24-18, 10-9 Sun Belt) moved in front with a run in the first inning as Cameron Jones walked and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Troy (26-14, 11-8) tied the game with an unearned run in the second. The score remained 1-1 until the Trojans scored nine runs in the fifth through eighth innings.

The Panthers managed just two hits against five Troy pitchers.

GSU starter Trey Horton (0-1) allowed just one run through the first four innings before giving up two more in the fifth. Horton's outing was the 71st appearance of his career, tied for sixth in GSU history.
