Allen Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

Leading the Panthers to the Sun Belt Conference Championship and earning Most Outstanding Player honors, senior Corey Allen is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Allen saved his best performances of the season for the conference tournament in Pensacola averaging 23.0 points and 5.3 assists per game. He shots 42.2 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent from 3-point range, and went a perfect 19-of-19 from the free throw line.

He opened the tournament with 11 points and a pair of assists while helping Georgia State to a 65-62 win over Arkansas State.

On Sunday, Allen went for a season-high 29 points, eight assists, and six rebounds as the Panthers defeated Appalachian State 71-66. Allen went 9-of-16 from the floor with six 3-pointers and a perfect 5-of-5 at the free throw line.

In Monday night's championship game, Allen went for 29 points again, while dishing out six assists. He went 6-of-12 from the floor, 5-of-6 from 3-point range, and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line.

For the season Allen is averaging 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He has made a team-high 65 3-pointers and is shooting 75.0 percent from the free throw line.

Georgia State (18-10) will find out its NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday night as part of the NCAA Selection Show on CBS at 6 p.m.
