Panthers Set for Rematch with South Alabama Saturday

ATLANTA-Looking to avenge a loss from last month, the Georgia State men's basketball team will host South Alabama on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the GSU Sports Arena.

Georgia State (8-10, 2-5 Sun Belt) has won two of its last three games but will now look to split the season series with South Alabama (15-7, 5-4 Sun Belt) following a 74-65 loss to the Jaguars in Mobile in January. The Panthers have won seven of the last nine meetings in the series between the two teams.

Since returning from injury, senior Eliel Nsoseme has been heating up while averaging 9.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He has recorded a pair of double-doubles in his first six starts back and garnered double figure rebound totals in the last five games, including 13 on Thursday night against Troy.

Senior Corey Allen leads the Panthers averaging 14.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game with a team-high 42 3-pointers after making six against ULM last Saturday. The All-Sun Belt Preseason First Team member is also third on the team in steals and second on the team in assists.

Senior Kane Williams, who moved into fifth place on Georgia State's all-time scoring list last month, is now the all-time wins leader, free throws made, and free throws attempted leader in program history. He is averaging 11.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 77.8 percent from the free throw line.

Senior Justin Roberts, who scored a team-high 17 points against Troy on Thursday, is adding 12.1 points per game and shooting 74.4 percent from the free throw line. Along with Williams and Allen, he is one of three Panthers in the starting line-up with at least 1,000 points for his career.

Roberts and Allen are both now within 100 points of becoming the 24th and 25th 1,000-point career scorers in GSU program history. Both started their careers at other schools before transferring to GSU.
