Men's Tennis Drops Match to FAU on the Road

Boca Raton, Fla.- The Georgia State men's tennis team fell to Florida Atlantic, 4-0, on Sunday as GSU closed out its road trip in Florida and dropped to 3-4 on the season. With back-to-back losses over the weekend, the team will look to regroup leading up to next week's match as GSU prepares for its final outing of a four-match road stretch.

Entering Sunday's match having dropped a hard-fought battle against Miami on Friday, GSU looked to rebound against a 7-0 FAU team in the Panthers' second of the two weekend matchups on the road. The backend of the doubleheader saw the team drop the first point in doubles competition and fall behind early, 1-0.

Despite the team's best efforts, FAU proceeded to claim points on courts No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 in singles play and secure the match win. FAU is the only team to have held the Panthers scoreless thus far in the spring.

The highlight of the weekend for GSU came in Friday's match against Miami as duo Roberts Grinvalds and Andrei Duarte knocked off the No. 5 ranked doubles pair in the nation, 6-3. This is the pair's third win over a ranked opponent while partnering together.

Continuing the team's road campaign, GSU will travel up the road to face in-state foe Kennesaw State on Friday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. ET. KSU will host the match at Betty Siegel Tennis Courts in what will be the Panthers' final match of four consecutive road outings.
