Panthers Fall on the Road Against Miami, 4-1

Coral Gables, Fla.- In the first of two weekend matches being played in Florida, the Georgia State men's tennis team fell to Miami, 4-1, on Friday. Despite a successful outing in doubles competition that gave GSU an early lead, Miami secured four consecutive wins in singles play as the visiting Panthers were defeated at Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

With a fast start to open the match, GSU posted strong play in doubles. Duos Roberts Grinvalds and Andrei Duarte collected a win, 6-3, in court position No. 1 while Harvey Maughan and Kevin Huynh saw victory, 6-2, in the team's No. 2 position.

Grinvalds and Duarte's win in the first position came against Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad of Miami. The pair is currently the No. 5 ranked ITA doubles team in the nation.

Following the Panthers securing an early point with the doubles victory, the team entered singles competition and proceeded to drop courts No. 4, No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 as Miami clinched the match. GSU moves to 3-3 on the season with Friday's loss.

GSU will look to rebound following back-to-back losses as the team travels to Boca Raton, Fla. on Sunday to face FAU at 10 a.m. ET. The backend of the weekend doubleheader will be played at Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.
