Thrash Earns All-America Honors

ATLANTA -- After one of the best seasons in program history, Georgia State receiver Jamari Thrash was recognized as an honorable mention All-America by Phil Steele.

The first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection produced one of the top receiving seasons in GSU history with a league-leading 1,122 receiving yards, which is No. 10 in FBS. He is No. 3 in the Sun Belt with seven touchdowns and No. 2 with 18.4 yards per catch.

Only nine-year NFL veteran Albert Wilson had more receiving yards in a Georgia State uniform with 1,177 in 2013. Thrash, Wilson and Penny Hart have had 1,000-yard seasons for the Panthers. Hart, another current NFL receiver, reached the mark in 2017 (1,121 yards) and 2015 (1,099 yards).

A junior from LaGrange, Ga., Thrash had three times as many receptions (61) and receiving yards as Georgia State's No. 2 receiver, accounting for 46 percent of the team's passing yards.

He finished the season with three straight 100-yards games, totaling 467 yards on 23 catches against ULM, James Madison and Marshall. But his top performance was against Charlotte, when he had a school-record 213 yards on 10 catches.

Thrash now ranks fifth in GSU history with 1,752 career yards, and he is also in the top 10 in career receptions (104) and touchdowns (12).
