Hart's Goal in 88th Minute Lifts Panthers to Victory, 1-0, Over Appalachian State

Boone, N.C.— Traveling on the road for the team's 13th regular season match of 2022, Georgia State women's soccer secured a victory over Sun Belt Conference opponent Appalachian State on Thursday night with junior forward Brooke Hart's goal in the 88th minute to lift the Panthers to a 1-0 victory.

Despite totaling 11 shots as a team with seven shots on goal, GSU played App State to a scoreless first half followed by a second period that went scoreless through 43 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Jaddah Foos collected five saves for the match as the Panthers' defense led by Foos and senior team captain Eva Diez Lois recorded a clean sheet.

Seven Panthers charted shots on Thursday including sophomore Gabby West, freshman Josepha Vercammen, senior Jimena Cabrero and Hart each with a team-high two shots. Vercammen and Cabrero each recorded two shots on goal.

After checking in to the match in the 85th minute, Hart attempted a pair of shots that included the lone goal of the match with less than two minutes remaining before full time. Hart's late score gave GSU the lead and the edge in the match as time expired and the Panthers secured a sixth win on the season.
