Panthers Fall to the Eagles 3-1

STATESBORO – Georgia State fell to in-state rival Georgia Southern four sets (25-14, 27-25, 26-24, 25-14).
 
Isabelle Percoco picked up from where she left off last night, opening set one with a tip to get the kill. The game was tied at 6-6 before the Eagles went on a 7-0 scoring run. The Eagles took set one 25-14.
 
The Panthers fell behind 16 – 10 in set two. A pair of aces by Maren Palmer and blocks by Izzy Durnell. Clara Bednarek. and Erin Wyatt, helped the Panthers go on 7-0 scoring run to take the lead. The teams pushed the set to a 24-all tie, before a Bednarek kill gave the Panthers their first set point. The Eagles tied it up one more time before a kill by Percoco and an ace won the set for the Panthers, 27-25.  
 

 
Percoco continued her hot streak and earned the first points of the third set for the Panthers. After going up 6-3 early in set three, the Panthers allowed the Eagles to go on a 7-1 scoring run. Back-to-back kills by Kayla Broom ignited a Panthers scoring run, putting the Panthers up 20-16. Wyatt and Bednarek gave the Panthers set point with a block, but the Eagles battled back and went on a 6-0 scoring run to win set three, 26-24.
 

 
A pair of scoring runs by the Eagles, got the best of the Panthers in set four. The Eagles secured their 3-1 match victory after winning set four 25-14.
 
Erin Wyatt led the Panthers with 12 kills and 10 digs, to notch her eighth double-double. Jenna Brown 20 assists. Maren Palmer dished out 18 assists along with three aces. Bednarek put down 10 kills and 5 blocks. Percoco also recorded 10 kills. Broom, Galaviz, and Izzy Durnell put down five kills each. Durnell added three blocks as well. Livy Kowalkowski and Ryan Spicer-Gordon recorded 14 and 10 digs respectively.
 
The Panthers continue their road trip as they travel to Southern Miss. Oct 28- 29. The matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
