First Men's Basketball Practice at GSU Convocation Center

Smiles were all around as the Georgia State men's basketball team held its first practice in the new GSU Convocation Center with numerous former players from all eras in attendance.

"You all dreamed about having a facility like this," head coach Jonas Hayes told the alumni, "but we are the very fortune ones to have the opportunity."

The former players in attendance, from Steve Richardson (1976-78) to Kevin Morris (1998-01) to R.J. Hunter (2013-15) and many others, were in awe of the shiny new facility.

Hayes, the Panthers' first-year head coach, will make his official debut on the Georgia State sideline on Monday, Nov. 7, when a men's and women's basketball doubleheader will be the first regular-season games in the GSU Convocation Center. The Panther women host Agnes Scott at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's team vs. Coastal Georgia at 8 p.m.

Both programs will also host an exhibition game at the GSU Convocation Center as the women face Emory on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. and the men play Morehouse on Monday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
