Allen, Williams, Nsoseme Lead Panthers to 73-62 Win at ULM

MONROE, La.-Corey Allen knocked down six 3-pointers, Kane Williams scored 18, and Eliel Nsoseme recorded another double-double as the Georgia State men's basketball team earned a 73-62 win over ULM at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

Georgia State (8-9, 2-4 Sun Belt) won for the second-straight game while sweeping a road trip in Louisiana as Allen finished with 18 points going 6-of-11 from 3-point range.

Nsoseme finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds for his second double-double in three games, while Williams went 6-of-12 from the floor while dishing out six assists.

ULM (10-12, 2-8 Sun Belt) played just six players and kept the game close through the middle of the second half before the Panthers started to pull away. The Warhawks were led by Nika Metskhvarishvili off the bench who scored 16 points.

Georgia State controlled the boards (32-25) and forced 17 turnovers which led to 27 points to improve to 19-8 in the state of Louisiana since the start of the 2013-14 season.

After ULM scored the first four points of the game, Georgia State responded with a 10-0 run to take a 10-4 lead just over three minutes into the game.

After the Warhawks retook the lead 13-12, Nelson Phillips made a pair of free throws followed by a lay-up to give the Panthers a 16-13 lead with 12:15 to play. It was part of a six-point run for the junior who finished the afternoon with eight points.

Allen got hot from long-range hitting 3-pointers on three of four possessions to give Georgia State a 29-25 lead with 6:32 to play.

When Nsoseme hit a short-range jumper as the first half clock expired, the Panthers went into the locker room with a 39-35 lead after shooting 57.1 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

As the two teams traded leads 11 times and were tied 10 times, the second half remained close until the Panthers started to pull away midway thru. A 3-pointer by Justin Roberts, followed by a lay-up by Phillips gave the Panthers a 7-0 run and a 60-52 lead with 10:10 to play.

Allen knocked down a pair of 3-pointers with Roberts hitting one in between to lead to a 9-0 run that gave the Panthers a 71-56 lead with just over four minutes to play.

Georgia State finished the afternoon shooting 45.9 percent from the floor while going 8-of-11 from the free throw line.

• Georgia State has combined to go 19-8 in the state of Louisiana since rejoining the league in 2013-14.
• GSU has won 100 regular season Sun Belt games since the start of the 2013-14 season, the most in the league, while finishing in the top two of the final regular season conference standings six times in eight seasons.
• Georgia State has a 49-20 (.710) record in the month of January since the start of the 2013-14 season.
• Williams remained 5th on GSU's all-time scoring list with 1,435 career points. He is currently 44 points behind Terrence Brandon for fourth place on the all-time list.
• Corey Allen has 1,822 career points scored which is among the top 30 career active scorers in the country. He has scored 971 of those points at GSU.
• Since 2013-14, GSU has won more games (177) than any other NCAA Division I team in Georgia.
