ATLANTA - The Georgia State volleyball team held its first intrasquad scrimmage on Sunday evening at GSU Sports Arena. The 20-member team split into two squads and played two competitive sets to 25, before competing in a friendly pass-serve competition.
During the first set, the white team earned a dominant 25-18 victory. Leading the white team was Julianna Truscott, who had a set-high five kills. Meisheia Griffin and Erin Wyatt also put together strong performances as both players had four kills, respectively.
The second set came down to the wire, but the white team prevailed again to earn a 25-23 victory. During the second set, the white team was led by Clara Bednarek who notched five kills. Isabelle Percoco led the blue team in a losing effort with four kills in set two.
Georgia State will open the 2021 campaign this Friday, Aug. 20 when it hits the road to face Chattanooga in an exhibition match, before hosting the annual GSU Invitational Aug. 27-28.
Last season, the Panthers won seven of their last nine matches, which included a four-match winning streak before falling in the Sun Belt Tournament. Going into the 2021 campaign, Georgia State will look to build upon that dominant stretch.
