Panthers to Open Sun Belt Play Dec. 30 at Home

Georgia State's women's basketball conference schedule was released Wednesday.

ATLANTA -- Georgia State's Sun Belt schedule was announced Wednesday as the Panthers will begin conference play on Dec. 30 against Little Rock and the GSU Sports Arena.

Head coach Gene Hill is entering his fourth season at GSU. The Panthers finished the 2020-21 season 13-11 and earned the No. 2 seed in the East Division in last year's Sun Belt Championship.

Hill and the Panthers will look to build on that success with 10 returners including four returning starters. The 2021-22 season will mark the final year playing in the GSU Sports Arena as Georgia State prepares to move into a brand new, state-of-the-art Convocation Center for the 2022-23 season.

The Panthers will begin conference play at home against Little Rock at noon on Dec. 30. Following three straight road games against Arkansas State (Jan. 1), Appalachian State (Jan. 6) and Coastal Carolina (Jan. 8), GSU will play seven of their next eight games at home.

GSU hosts UT Arlington (Jan. 13), Texas State (Jan. 15), Georgia Southern (Jan. 22), South Alabama (Jan. 27) and Troy (Jan. 29) before heading south to Statesboro to face the Eagles for a second time on Feb. 5. GSU then returns home for the final two home contests of the season against Coastal Carolina (Feb. 10) and Appalachian State (Feb. 12).

The Panthers close out the regular season with four straight road games at Troy (Feb. 17), South Alabama (Feb. 19), Louisiana (Feb. 24) and ULM (Feb. 26).

The 2021-22 Sun Belt Championship will be held in Pensacola, Fla. March 2-7.
