Men's Basketball Announces 2021-22 Sun Belt Schedule

ATLANTA-Looking to advance to a fourth-straight Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game and claim a fourth conference title since 2015, Georgia State announced its 2021-22 Sun Belt Conference schedule on Tuesday.

The Panthers enter head coach Rob Lanier's third year at Georgia State following a 16-6 shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will mark the Panthers' final year in the GSU Sports Arena before opening a brand new, state-of-the-art Convocation Center for the 2022-23 season.

The 18-game Sun Belt Conference regular season will go from Thursday, Dec. 30, to Saturday, Feb. 26, as teams return to traditional league place following divisional play last season.

Georgia State will open league play at Arkansas State (Dec. 30) and Little Rock (Jan. 1) before returning home to host UT Arlington (Jan. 6) and Texas State (Jan. 8).

Following a road trip to Alabama to face South Alabama (Jan. 13) and Troy (Jan. 15), the Panthers will host defending tournament champion Appalachian State (Jan. 20) before Coastal Carolina comes to the GSU Sports Arena on Jan. 22

Georgia State will close out a busy month of January at Louisiana (Jan. 27) and ULM (Jan. 29).

The Panthers open February hosting Troy (Feb. 3) and South Alabama (Feb. 5) before traveling to the Carolinas to face Coastal Carolina (Feb. 10) and Appalachian State (Feb. 12).

That will lead up to a series of matchups with in-state rival Georgia Southern as GSU will host the Eagles on Feb. 17, before traveling to Statesboro on Feb. 19.

The regular season will come to a close hosting ULM on Feb. 24 and Louisiana on Feb. 26.

The Sun Belt Conference Championship will begin Thursday, March 3, in Pensacola, Fla., at the Bay Center. The league's championship game is set for Monday, March 7.

Games times will be announced at a later date. All games will once again air on ESPN+.

Georgia State will announce its non-conference schedule later this summer. Opening night of the 2020-21 NCAA basketball season is set for Nov. 9.
