ATLANTA - Head coach Sally Polhamus officially announced the 2021 schedule for the Georgia State volleyball team on Monday. The 26-game slate features 16 Sun Belt Conference matches and nine non-conference matches, including 15 home contests and 11 away contests.
Georgia State will open the 2021 campaign by hosting UT Chattanooga, California Baptist and Memphis for the annual GSU Invitational at GSU Sports Arena (Aug. 27-28).
The Panthers then head to Jacksonville, Fla., for the North Florida Invitational to face Virginia Tech, Davidson and North Florida on Sept. 3-4. The following weekend, the Panthers host Alcorn State, Stetson and Presbyterian before closing non-conference play on Sept. 15 with a trip to the Palmetto state to face Clemson.
Sun Belt conference play starts eight days later for the Panthers as they travel to Louisiana for back-to-back matches against ULM and Louisiana on Sept. 23 and 24. A week later, the Panthers host Appalachian State on Oct. 1, followed by Coastal Carolina on Oct. 2.
Georgia State stays home to face in-state foe Georgia Southern on Oct. 7, before heading to Statesboro two days later for another contest against the Eagles on Oct. 9. The Panthers stay on the road the following weekend when they head to the state of Alabama for consecutive matches against South Alabama on Oct. 15 and Troy on Oct. 16.
Georgia State comes back to Atlanta for four consecutive home matches against Arkansas State (Oct. 22), Little Rock (Oct. 23), UT Arlington (Oct. 29) and Texas State (Oct. 30) before heading to the Tar Heel state to face Appalachian State on Nov. 5.
Two days later, the Panthers travel to Coastal Carolina on Nov. 7, before coming home to end the regular season with consecutive matches against South Alabama and Troy on Nov. 12 and 13.
The regular season finale versus Troy (Nov. 13) will be senior night for the Panthers.
Georgia State capped off the 2020 season in spectacular fashion, winning six of its last seven regular season matches, including a dominant four-match winning streak heading into the Sun Belt Tournament. The Panthers will look to build upon that impressive stretch during the 2021 campaign.
