Home and Home Series with Wake Forest Set for 2029 and 2030

ATLANTA – Georgia State has finalized a contract with Wake Forest for a home and home football series in 2029 and 2030 the two schools announced on Tuesday.

The Demon Deacons will host the Panthers in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Sept. 15, 2029, before coming to Atlanta on Sept. 14, 2030.

The series will mark the third scheduled time Georgia State hosts an ACC opponent as North Carolina comes to Atlanta in 2022 and the Panthers host Georgia Tech in 2026.

Georgia State has previously faced ACC foes Clemson (2014) and NC State (2018).

Georgia State has already set its non-conference schedules through the 2024 season, with two games scheduled 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2030, along with three games in 2026.

Head coach Shawn Elliott's squad returns 22 of 24 starters for the 2021 season, including all 11 starters from an offensive unit that averaged a school-record 33.3 points per game and nine starters from a defense that ranked No. 7 in FBS with a program-record 35 sacks.

The Panthers will face the most exciting and challenging schedule in program history with non-conference games against Army, North Carolina, Auburn and Charlotte along with a Sun Belt Conference slate that features three straight road games against rival Georgia Southern and 2020 co-champions Coastal Carolina and Louisiana.

GSU will play seven teams that played in bowl games, including six foes who won eight or more games in 2020.

Georgia State has earned back-to-back bowl berths and posted consecutive winning seasons for the first time in program history. The Panthers have also earned three bowl berths in the last four seasons.
