Panthers Drop Doubleheader to Texas State

ATLANTA -- Georgia State lost 6-2 and 9-0 as Texas State swept Tuesday's doubleheader at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

The Panthers fell behind early in both games and were unable to overcome the deficits despite recording nine hits in Game 1 and nine more in Game 2. 

Daisy Hess hit her team-leading seventh homer of the season in the first game to put GSU on the board. The Panthers pushed another run across on an error in the seventh, but fell 6-2 as Meagan King went the distance in the circle for the Bobcats.

GSU out-hit the Bobcats in Game 2, but Texas State starter Jessica Mullins struck out nine while earning the complete-game shutout. 

Freshman Elle Doolittle pitched well in both games for GSU. She threw 3.0 scoreless innings in Game 1 before allowing one earned over 4.2 innings in Game 2.

Hess, Emily Brown and Skylar Mosel each knocked two hits in the first game and Brown added three more base knocks in Game 2.

GSU and Texas State wrap up the series Wednesday at 3 p.m.
