MACON, Ga.- Georgia State men's tennis (1-2) snapped a two-match losing streak after blanking Mercer (1-3) Sunday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
The Panthers opened the day by clinching the doubles point. No. 30 Roberts Grinvalds and Andrei Duarte found a 6-2 win on court one. Kevin Huynh and Mihai Marinescu secured the one-point advantage with a 6-3 result on court three.
Georgia State carried its momentum into singles action. Andrei Duarte and Diego Padilha both earned their first wins of the 2021 campaign. Meanwhile, newcomers Harvey Maughan and Marinescu bested their opposition for the first time while in blue and white. Additionally, Vazha Shubladze, last week's GSU student-athlete of the week, and Roberts Grinvalds each outlasted their competition for the second time this season to complete the Panther sweep.
Up next, Georgia State will battle Georgia Tech on Feb. 12. First serve is slated for 5:00 p.m. at the Byers Tennis Complex.
