Big Fourth Quarter Leads to Road Victory

Georgia State outscored Appalachian State 30-13 in the final 10 minutes to win 72-62.

Box Score BOONE, N.C. -- Georgia State put up 30 points in the fourth quarter Friday night to beat Appalachian State 72-62 at the Holmes Convocation Center. 

Taylor Hosendove scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half to lead the surge. The Panthers trailed by seven at the end of the third period before Hosendove and the Panthers took control.

GSU shot an impressive 47% for the game but went 13-19 (68%) in the final quarter. The Panthers earned the win on the defensive end as well, forcing four App State turnovers in the final 3:41. 

Joining Hosendove and Merrill in double figures was Taniyah Worth who finished with 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.

After the Mountaineers took a nine-point lead with 9:35 left in the game, Georgia State went on a 7-0 run to narrow the margin. The Panthers then tied the game at 55-55 with a layup by Hosendove before taking the lead on a 3-pointer by Merrill with 5:29 to go in the game.

The Panthers finished the game on a 9-2 run to improve to 8-6 (4-3 Sun Belt) on the season. GSU and App State will play again Saturday at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
