ATLANTA - The Panther Insider Podcast Driven by Ford returns for Episode 52 as we welcome Georgia State men's basketball alum and now author Matt O'Brien to the podcast. O'Brien joins the Voice of the Panthers Dave Cohen to talk about his Georgia State squad which advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1991, becoming the first men's basketball program to reach the Big Dance.

After his days at Georgia State, O'Brien moved to Las Vegas working as a staff writer, news editor and managing editor of the Las Vegas CityLife from 2000 to 2008. While at the paper, he co-wrote two cover stories about exploring the underground flood channels of Las Vegas. O'Brien discovered hundreds of homeless people living in the storm drains. His research from inside the underground flood channels are detailed in his book Beneath the Neon: Life and Death in the Tunnels of Las Vegas, released in June 2007.

In July 2017, O'Brien relocated to San Salvador to teach literature at an English-language preparatory school and to write a sequel to Beneath the Neon about survivor dwellers of the storm drains.

The Panther Insider Podcast Driven by Ford launched in August 2019 and has featured coaches, administration, along with current and former student-athletes. The semi-weekly podcast will tell the stories of GSU student-athletes, coaches, and all those surrounding the Georgia State Athletics program.
