Stanescu Earns Fourth Consecutive Win as Panthers Fall 4-3

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Georgia State women's tennis fell 4-3 to Chattanooga on the road Saturday afternoon. The result drops the Panthers to 2-6 on the season and improves the Mocs to 6-1.

Georgia State, who overcame a three-point deficit to earn a win over College of Charleston, continued to show grit and determination in the doubles point. Georgia State split the top two courts with the Mocs both by a score of 7-5. Andreea Stanescu and Ellie Aldrich showed determination as they fought to clinch the doubles point with an additional 7-5 decision.

Despite having the one-point advantage going into singles action, the Panthers could not slow the Mocs' singles momentum. Chattanooga quickly knotted the match with a 6-2, 6-3 result at the No. 1 position. Chattanooga would pick up additional wins on courts two, six, and five to clinch the team victory. Ellie Aldrich added to the GSU point total, winning by retirement on line five. Andreea Stanescu remained strong in her match as she looked for the individual result. The Romania native picked up her fourth win of the year as she bested her opposition 6-2, 7-5. Ellie Aldrich added to the GSU point total, winning by retirement on line four.

Georgia State opens Sun Belt action next weekend with a trip to Appalachian State Saturday before meeting Coastal Carolina Sunday. The pair of matches will mark the end of a nine-match road stint for the Panthers.
