Bell Scores Career High in Loss to Trojans

Elexus Bell was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field Tuesday against Troy.

ATLANTA -- Elexus Bell scored a career-high 15 points but Georgia State was defeated by Troy 90-71 Tuesday at the GSU Sports Arena. 

Bell was perfect from the field, hitting all six field goal attempts. Taylor Hosendove finished with 15 points as well and added seven rebounds. Hosendove has now reached double figures in four of the last five games and grabbed at least seven rebounds in six of the last seven contests.

Troy led by five at the end of the first quarter and pulled away in the second to lead by 11 at halftime. The Panthers cut Troy's lead down to eight with 7:49 to play in the fourth quarter after a Taniyah Worth 3-pointer, but made six of their final seven shots to close out the game. Worth finished with 10 points and four steals.

Georgia State shot 44% from the field, but Troy was slightly better at 46% and the Trojans won the rebounding battle 49-27, scoring 15 second-chance points.

The Panthers fall to 10-8 (6-5 Sun Belt) and fall to third place in the East Division, half a game behind South Alabama. GSU visits Troy for two more games Friday and Saturday in Troy, Ala.
