Panthers Drop Road Battle at Ranked Tennessee

Box Score KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Georgia State was unable to overcome a rebounding deficit Sunday at No. 9 Tennessee Sunday afternoon, falling 84-60. 

The Panthers led 11-9 midway through the first quarter before the Volunteers gained control with seven unanswered out of the media break. Taniyah Worth finished the first quarter 3-for-3 with a team-high eight points, but the Panthers trailed 23-15 after 10 minutes.
 
The Volunteers turned up the defensive pressure in the second period, holding Georgia State to 4-for-18 from the field and outscoring the Panthers 19-9 to lead 42-24 at halftime.

Tennessee's lead grew to 38 in the second half, but the Panthers continued to battle and outscored the Lady Volunteers 22-17 in the fourth quarter. 

Worth finished with a team-high 13 points. Ashley Foster totaled five points with five rebounds and three steals. 

GSU knocked down 10 3-pointers on its way to 60 points. Only one team has scored more against Tennessee's defense this season. 

With the loss, GSU falls to 4-5 on the season. The Panthers return home Tuesday to host Florida A&M at 6 p.m.
