ATLANTA - After winning consecutive matches for the first time this season, Georgia State fell to Little Rock, 2-3 (25-22, 25-22, 14-25, 21-25, 5-15) Saturday night at GSU Sports Arena.
On the season, Georgia State falls to 5-15, 2-8 Sun Belt, while Little Rock improves to 13-10, 4-7 Sun Belt.Â
The Panthers were led by Julianna Truscott who tallied a career-high 13 kills. The junior right side also added three blocks. Truscott, Leah Wilcox, Clara Bednarek, Laura Ehieze and Meisheia Griffin all tallied double-digit kills for the Panthers.
Defensively, the Panthers were led by Ava Vlkovic who registered 20 digs.Â
Georgia State got off to a dominant start as the Panthers won sets one and two to take an early 2-0 match lead. Little Rock then responded with a reverse sweep to win the match in five sets.Â
Sets one and two were competitive, but Georgia State was able to come away victorious in both sets. Ehieze led the Panthers in set one as she tallied five kills while hitting .571. Truscott and Wilcox led the Panthers in set two as they each logged four kills.Â
As a team, Georgia State logged more kills, digs, blocks and assists than Little Rock during the first two sets.Â
Trailing 0-2 in the match, Little Rock put together a stellar performance in set three to stay alive. The Trojans followed up their stellar performance in set three with a strong performance in set four to force set five.Â
Georgia State attempted to regain the momentum but Little Rock refused to relinquish it. The Trojans went on to take set five, 15-5, to win the match.Â
Georgia State will look to bounce back next weekend when the Panthers welcome UT Arlington (Oct. 29) and Texas State (Oct. 30) to GSU Sports Arena.Â
