Sadler Scores Career-High in Close Loss

GSU tied the game late after trailing by as many as 17 points, but fell 71-68 Friday vs. Appalachian State.

ATLANTA -- Hannah Sadler scored a career-high 19 points as Georgia State rallied from double digits but ultimately lost 71-68 to Appalachian State Friday night at the GSU Sports Arena.

After the Panthers trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half, Sadler scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half as the Panthers fought all the way back to even the score in the final minutes.

App State raced to a 17-point lead in the first quarter before the Panthers settled in and slowly chipped away at the deficit. GSU trailed by 13 at the half and outscored the Mountaineers 21-11 in the third quarter to trail by just three heading into the final 10 minutes.

After Taylor Henderson hit a free throw to tie the game at 65-65 with 50 seconds left, App State made four straight free throws to lead by four. Moriah Taylor then hit a deep 3-pointer to make it a one-point game with 23 seconds to go. App State hit two more free throws and Henderson's 3-point shot at the buzzer didn't fall. 

Sadler's 19 points led GSU and Taylor Hosendove finished with 16 points and six rebounds. Kam Dziak and Tehya Lyons each totaled five assists. Lyons also scored eight points with four rebounds.

Georgia State and App State meet again Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
