Behind the Mask: Get to Know Meisheia Griffin

Meisheia Griffin on the Court 

  • 2019 All-Sun Belt Second Team Selection 
  • In her junior season, Griffin led the Sun Belt in blocks per set overall (1.15) and in conference only action (1.19).
  • One of three Panthers to record over 200 kills during the 2019 season (205).
  • Has led Georgia State's blocking efforts since her first season in 2017. 
  • As a sophomore her 1.35 blocks per set ranked 22nd in the NCAA. 
  • In the Georgia State program record book, she ranks sixth in total block assists (268) and career blocks per set average (1.06). Additionally, her 316 total blocks ranks 9th in program history. 
  • "My favorite way to practice my blocking is by first going through a slower paced drill to get the fundamentals down," said Griffin. "Once I master the basics, I like to apply them in a game-like scenario right after."

  • Upon graduation Griffin, a biology major, would like to continue her education and attend graduate school.
  • Before playing volleyball, Griffin played tennis as a kid.
  • In her free time Griffin likes to cook, eat, and take naps.
  • "Playing at Georgia State has meant so much to me," said Griffin. "Not only has it helped me grow as a person, but I have mentally and physically matured."
