Meyberg Becomes Three-Time CoSIDA Academic All-American

First Female Three-Time Honoree in School History

ATLANTA – Georgia State cross country and track & field runner Lotte Meyberg has been named to the 2020 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Cross Country/Track & Field Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Meyberg becomes just the second three-time Academic All-American in Georgia State history and the first female to accomplish the feat. The senior from Buettelborn, Germany, earned first team honors in 2019, along with third team recognition in 2018. She is one of just three honorees this year to earn the recognition for a third time.

Georgia State has now earned eight Google Cloud Academic All-Americans in the last two years and 14 since 2017-18.

Since 2004-05, GSU's cross country and track and field program has six Academic All-American selections including Meyberg's trio of honors.

Meyberg won the 2019 Sun Belt Cross Country Individual Championship in the fall and took home two more conference titles with wins in the 3K and 5K at the 2020 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championship. In the classroom, Meyberg maintained a 4.0 GPA the past school year while majoring in nutrition.

"It means a lot to me to be recognized as a student-athlete that excels both athletically and academically," Meyberg said. "Receiving this honor shows me that my effort to perform well and invest in everything that is important to me is rewarded.

"Although it is not always easy to balance training and studying, I have learned over time that I intuitively spend appropriate amounts of time on both. There are times when college is more demanding and I have to cut down on miles. But then again, I can practice more intensively after a period of studying for exams. Running helps me to focus and I believe that many skills that we learn as athletes are helpful to be successful academically as well."

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
