ATLANTA --
Ryan Glass drove in six runs with a grand slam and a two-run double to lead Georgia State to a series-clinching 9-4 win over North Alabama Saturday at the GSU Baseball Complex.
The Panthers fell behind 2-0 early but broke the game open with nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Glass, the junior first baseman, keyed the four-run fourth inning with his two-run double to left center to give GSU a 4-2 lead.
In the fifth, he crushed the first pitch from reliever Jacob James over the left field fence for a commanding 9-2 advantage. That was his first homer of the season and the 10th of his career but his first grand slam.
Josh Smith had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers, and
Tanner Gallman was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
GSU starter
Ryan Watson (2-1) pitched six innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with three strikeouts.Â
North Alabama (3-11) loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but freshman reliever
Cameron Jones ended the game with a pair of strikeouts. Jones started the game in right field and drove in a run on a sacrifice bunt.
Watson and reliever
Tyler Koch each picked off a baserunner at first base, giving the GSU staff 10 pickoffs on the season. For Koch, it was the 13th career pickoff by the senior lefty.
The series continues with a 1 p.m. game Sunday at the GSU Baseball Complex.Â
