Panthers Win Third Straight; Beat Life 93-49

GSU totaled 20 assists in the win.

ATLANTA -- Georgia State overcame a slow start to beat Life 93-49 Sunday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.

The Panthers trailed by two at the end of the 1st Quarter but out-scored the Running Eagles 25-11 in the 2nd Quarter and scored a school-record 36 points in the 3rd Quarter to pull away.

Tehya Lyons was one of nine Panthers to record an assist in the contest as the team totaled 20, the most since 1/25/18 vs. UT Arlington. Lyons led the way with six assists.

"It shows that we're playing together," Lyons said. "We're not looking out for ourselves, we're trying to play together."

Four Panthers finished in double figures led by Moriah Taylor with 17 points. Taylor helped fuel a 20-2 run in the 2nd Quarter with three 3-pointers. Joelle Johnson scored a career-high 14 points and matched her career high in rebounds with nine. Kennedy Powell added 12 points and eight rebounds, both career marks for the sophomore.Taniyah Worth finished with 10 points and five boards. 

Georgia State shot 45% from the field and netted 11 3-pointers. The Panthers had 16 steals while forcing 23 turnovers and converted 29 points off those turnovers. 61 of GSU's 93 points came off the bench.

The Panthers have now won three in a row to improve to 3-1 on the season. GSU travels to Athens on Thursday to face Georgia.
