Wyatt Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- Freshman volleyball star Erin Wyatt led the Panthers to a sweep of South Alabama last week while putting up remarkable numbers to earn GSU Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Monday.

The freshman propelled Georgia State to three victories over South Alabama, including two 3-0 sweeps. The Texas native accumulated double-digit kills in each contest. In Thursday's nightcap Wyatt could not be slowed as she recorded a personal best 17 kills, which ranks fourth in kills in a 3-set match by a Sun Belt player this season.

On Friday Wyatt quickly broke her personal record as she registered 19 kills. She also shined on defense picking up 17 digs. This marked the second double-double of her collegiate career.

The Panthers have won six of their last seven meetings and currently possess a four-game winning streak. This is the longest win streak by GSU since 2013. With this week's three victories the Panthers leapfrogged the Jaguars in the standings. Georgia State will enter the Sun Belt Conference Championship as the No. 3 team seed in the East when the tournament gets underway Nov. 18, in Foley, Ala.
