Notes & Highlights from #StateNotSouthern Victory

Georgia State scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally for a 30-24 victory over Georgia Southern, giving the Panthers a 4-3 lead in the series with their in-state rival.

TEAM NOTES

> Over the last three games, the Georgia State defense has allowed an average of 18.3 ppg and 334.7 yards pg.

> Georgia State has 19 sacks over the last four games for a season-record total of 32.

> GSU leads the Sun Belt in sacks (3.56 pg/No. 9 FBS) and tackles for loss (7.9 pg/No. 14 FBS)

> GSU leads the Sun Belt/No. 5 FBS with 18 turnovers forced (10 int/8 FR). Eight fumble recoveries ties the GSU season record.

> Georgia State is averaging 32.7 points per game (No. 2 in Sun Belt). That currently stands as the GSU season record, just ahead of last year's 31.2 ppg.

> The Panthers' average of 417.7 yards of total offense is the program's third-best season average, behind 2019 (439.8) and 2015 (432.8).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

> Cornelious Brown IV posted career highs with 372 yards passing and 28 completions

> Over the last two games, "Quad" has passed for 706 yards on 47 completions. 

> He completed his last 10 passes vs. South Alabama and first three vs. Georgia Southern. Thirteen straight completions is second-longest streak in program history (Ellington, 15 straight vs. Furman)

> Brown has rushed for seven touchdowns this season, most by a GSU quarterback.

> Brown leads the Sun Belt in passing (227.3 ypg) and is second in total offense (256.3 ypg) and points responsible for (14.2 ppg) and third in rushing touchdowns (7).

> Sam Pinckney had a career-high 10 catches for 126 yards. Over the last two games, he has 15 receptions for 302 yards.

> Destin Coates topped the 1,300-yard mark for his career and moved past Dan Ellington into fourth on the GSU career rushing list with 1,335 yards. His 14 career rushing touchdowns ranks second.

> With two tackles for loss, Jordan Strachan now has 12.5 on the season to tie the GSU season record. He added to his season sack record and now has 9.0.

> Strachan leads the Sun Belt in sacks (1.00 pg/No. 7 FBS) and is second in TFL (1.9 pg). He also leads the Sun Belt with three forced fumbles.

> Quavian White grabbed his third interception of the season and the sixth of his career, one behind the GSU record.
