ATLANTA- After sweeping South Alabama at the GSU Sports Arena to finish the regular season, Georgia State heads to Foley, Ala. to compete in the Sun Belt Tournament.
During this unique season, each squad was invited to participate in the SBC Tournament, which is the only NCAA volleyball tournament happening this Fall. Each program will participate in two-games of pool play with the winner of each pool advancing to Saturday's semifinal. GSU enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed in the East. The Panthers will first face Little Rock, the No. 5 team in the West, before completing pool play with a contest against Louisiana, the No. 2 seed in the West.
SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
> The Panthers have won six of their last seven contests and enter the tournament on a four-game winning streak. This marks the longest winning streak by Georgia State since 2013.
> Erin Wyatt propelled the GSU offense during the regular season finale, recording 19 kills and 17 digs. Wyatt earned GSU Student-Athlete of the Week and SBC Freshman of the Week honors after her impressive performance.
> Jordan Shoemaker has dished out 579 assists during her senior campaign. The Florida native is only six assists shy of hitting the impressive 1000 mark during her two-year Georgia State career.
> Senior Leah Wilcox ranks 10th in kills per set (3.03) among SBC leaders. Wilcox leads the GSU offense with 179 kills on the season.
> Freshman Ava Vlkovic's 0.35 aces per set is best for fifth among league leaders.
OPPONENTS AND SERIES HISTORY
> Georgia State faces both Little Rock and Louisiana for the first time this season, a byproduct of the Sun Belt's division-only play during the regular season.
> Little Rock holds an 8-2 edge over GSU in the overall series.
> Little Rock enters the tournament with a 4-13 record and is led by Laura Jansen who has registered 251 kills this season.
> Louisiana holds a 7-3 record over the Panthers in the overall series.
> Louisiana enters the tournament with a 17-5 record and is led by Hali Wisnoskie. The senior is one of five active NCAA Division I volleyball players with 1300-plus career kills.
