Allen Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

The redshirt-junior guard hit eight 3's in Tuesday's win over Dartmouth

ATLANTA – Redshirt junior guard Corey Allen has been named Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the GSU men's basketball team to a 2-0 week while averaging 22.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.

Allen opened the week by knocking down eighth 3-pointers in Tuesday's 83-80 overtime win over Dartmouth, tied for the seventh-most in a single game in program history. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native finished with a season-high 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting, including 8-of-15 from 3-point range against Dartmouth. Allen also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.

On Saturday, Allen led the Panthers to a fifth-straight win with a 74-61 win at in-state foe Mercer. Allen finished with 16 points, two rebounds and two assists. He went 6-of-12 from the floor and 3-of-7 from 3-point range.

For the season, Allen is averaging a team-best 17.1 points per game. He is shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 39.7 percent from 3-point range with a team-best 23 triples.

The Panthers will return to the court Dec. 19, opening Sun Belt Conference play hosting UT Arlington at 7 p.m.
