Panthers Set For Annual Home and Home Against Southern

Georgia State will look to gain a point in the Rivalry Series during this week's action

ATLANTA- Georgia State concludes regular season play against in-state rival, Georgia Southern, in a pair of critical Sun Belt matches. Georgia State will travel to Statesboro for Tuesday's match, before hosting the Eagles for Friday's regular season finale. Both matches have a 6:30 p.m. start time. The winner of each match will earn their school a half point in the Rivalry Series standings.

Last season each team won in front of their home crowds. The middle blockers Madelyn Ott and Meisheia Griffin stole the show during the contest at GSU Sports Arena. Ott downed 15 kills and Griffin blocked 11 attempts.

Friday's home match will mark the final regular season outing for the seniors, Morgan Hash, Sydney Stroud, and Madelyn Ott. The trio will be recognized before the match.

Stroud leads the team in kills this season with 203. In addition to the senior, State's younger players have stepped up to lead the offense. Florida native, Leah Wilcox, has led the team in kills in eight of the last nine meetings. Jordan Shoemaker and Kampbell Hehr continue to split setting duties through the season's homestretch.

Meisheia Griffin and Lauren Bandera have led the way defensively for Georgia State and rank amongst the best in the conference. Griffin sets the Sun Belt standard with 1.12 blocks per set. Bandera ranks third in the conference with 4.67 digs per set, and has posted double-digit digs in every outing except one this season.
