GSU looks to keep momentum in final two regular season contests

ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer rounds out the final weekend of the regular season with a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches beginning with a Friday night contest at ULM before returning home for Senior Day on Sunday against Appalachian State.

GSU currently sits in a four-way tie for sixth place in the Sun Belt standings, aiming to finish in the top-eight and earn a second straight trip to the conference tournament.

SCOUTING ULM
- ULM enters Friday on a seven-match losing streak, scoring just two goals in its last seven contests. The Warhawks most recently fell to Georgia Southern 2-1 on Sunday in Statesboro, Ga.
- Taylor Altieri and Melissa Taft lead the Warhawks with three goals and six total points each. Goalkeeper Rian Kasner ranks first in the conference with a 5.36 saves per game average.
- ULM is one of only three teams in the Sun Belt that averages less than 10.0 shots per game.
- Friday will be the seventh all-time meeting between Georgia State and ULM. The Panthers own a 5-1 record against ULM and have won four straight against the Warhawks.

SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
- Appalachian State enters the weekend on a two-match unbeaten streak and faces South Alabama on Friday before traveling to take on Georgia State on Sunday.
-The Mountaineers are led by Ava Dawson and reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Kristin Brown with 10 points apiece. Dawson leads the team with four goals while Brown leads the team in assists with six, tied for the third-most among all players in the conference.
- As a team, Appalachian State ranks tied for third in the Sun Belt in points (63), goals (22) and assists (19).
- Sunday will be the eighth all-time meeting between GSU and Appalachian State. The Panthers own a 4-2-1 record in the series and won the most recent outing 2-0 at Appalachian State in 2018.

LAST TIME OUT
- Georgia State shut out Texas State 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex for its fifth home victory of the season.
- Freshman forward Jimena Cabrero scored the lone goal for the Panthers in the 29th minute, her fourth of the season.
- GSU goalkeeper Kendra Clarke had one save and recorded her fifth shutout of the year.
- With its 1-0 victory, GSU not only snapped Texas State's four-match win streak but also became the first team to score a goal on the Bobcats in the month of October.
