Men’s Tennis Begins Fall Tournament Slate at ITA Southeast Regionals

All nine Panthers to compete in opening fall touranment

ATLANTA – Georgia State men's tennis is set to begin its 2019 fall tournament slate this week, kicking off the fall schedule at the ITA Southeast Regionals hosted by Florida.

All nine Panthers on the roster will be competing this week, featuring Quentin Coulaud, Roberts Grinvalds, Bailey Showers and Vazha Shubladze in the Main Singles Draw and Andrei Duarte, Kevin Huynh, Steven Huynh, Patrick Lazo and Diego Padilha in the Qualifying Singles Draw.

In opening round action of the Main Singles Draw, Grinvalds is set to take on Blaise Bicknell of Florida. Coulaud squares off against Chris Yun of Georgia Tech while Showers faces Sebastian Arcila of Florida State. Shubladze takes on Florida's Andy Andrade, who currently ranks 31st in the latest ITA Division I Men's Singles rankings.

Duarte, Kevin Huynh and Padilha all received first-round byes in the qualifying bracket. Duarte will open play against Hunter Robbins of FAU, Huynh will face Nilo Duarte of North Florida while Padilha begins tournament play against Bryn Nahrung of Florida State.

In the first round of the qualifying draw, Steven Huynh takes on Mercer's Carver Arant and Lazo faces Charley Castaing of North Florida.

Georgia State will also have four pairs of doubles partners competing this week. Kevin Huynh and Shubladze open against Stetson's Christian Mills and Fabian Penzkofer, Lazo and Padilha take on USF's Sergio Montesa and Antonio Muniz, Duarte and Grinvalds face Pablo Aycart Joya and Tatsuki Shimamoto of Miami, and Coulaud and Showers open against Stetson's Linus Bergevi and Antoine Sanchez.

The tournament begins Thursday morning with rounds one and two of the qualifying singles draw and concludes Monday afternoon with the main draw doubles final followed by the main draw singles final. Fans can follow the live scoring via CourtHive.
