Panthers Drop Doubleheader in Lafayette

What you need to know:

* Georgia State both games of a doubleheader Saturday at No. 17 Louisiana.

* Ivie Drake homered in Game 2, but the Panthers would fall 7-1.

* Georgia State goes to Lafayette, La. this weekend to play No. 17 Louisiana.


LAFAYETTE, La. - Georgia State (28-19, 13-8) lost 19-4 in five innings Saturday in Game 1 versus No. 17 Louisiana and lost 7-1 in Game 2 of the doubleheader. The series finale is set for 2 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Georgia State allowed 13 runs in the first inning of Game 1 and fell into a hole that the Panther offense was unable to climb out of. Megan Litumbe went 2-for-3 in the contest and Ivie Drake, Reagan Morgan and Arden Jobe each picked up an RBI. Morgan Brown scored two of GSU's four runs.

Game 2 was a much closer contest with the Panthers only down three after four innings. Ivie Drake's fifth home run of the season was the lone run for GSU. The Ragin' Cajuns scored three runs in the fifth to pull away.

The Panthers look to avoid the sweep Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in Lafayette.
