• Georgia State begins the 2017 season Friday against Western Kentucky and Mississippi State at the Bulldog Invite in Starkville, Miss.
• The Panthers are coming off their 10th straight 30-win season. GSU finished third at the 2016 Sun Belt Tournament.
• Junior Ivie Drake needs just one home run to break GSU's career home run record of 38 set by Callie Alford in 2015.
• Ivie Drake was named to every major preseason Top 50 list including Flo Softball, D1 Softball and USA Softball.
• Ivie Drake, Mandy Blackwell and Megan Litumbe were named preseason All-Sun Belt. Only Louisiana had more players named to the team.
• Georgia State was voted to finish fourth in the Sun Belt this season.
• The Panthers return 16 letterwinners from 2016 and welcome nine newcomers including seven freshmen.
• For the past two seasons, GSU has opened up against a team ranked in the top-25. Georgia State last won its season opener in 2014 when they defeated Indiana.
• GSU and WKU spent one year together in the Sun Belt Conference (2014). The Panthers took two out of three from the Hilltoppers that season.
